WIW: Saturday night out!

A quick post under my long neglected 'WIW' label - I'm really bad with taking photos of my outfits but I just had to take a photo of me wearing my Zara star tights which I posted about a while ago.

I was just going out for dinner with friends and then a farewell which somehow ended as a night out dancing with the girls! Fun way to spend a beautiful Saturday anyway :)

And so here's an obligatory photo of my tramp stamp + my hot pink bracelet from Santorini. I love it for a bit of colour to my outfits! And I wear a lot of pink so it matches perfectly

WIW: Christmas Party (I)

I had one of my work christmas parties this week and it was a swish Cocktail Party affair. I'm annoyed at myself for not taking a full shot of my outfit but I wore some of my new items!!!

And I was just dying to wear my new patent Bally peeptoes <3 which I posted about a few weeks back. I decided to wear them with the ankle straps for a more refined look, but by the end of the night my feet needed some movement so I took the straps off. They were so unbelievably comfortably despite their height! Even so, after a few hours on the d-floor, the arches of my feet were needing a rest.

I wore this old Sass & Bide dress - it's at least 4 years old now but it still is so elegant and glam. I got so many compliments from randoms I didn't know saying they saw my dress and loved it! :) It has an old school glamour feel to it, don't you think? Sorry for the crap photo!

I have another Christmas Party this week - there is a vague theme but I'm going to go for Cocktail dress code again. What are you going to be wearing this silly season?

WIW: Winter Coats

I love Winter Coats, though in Australia we have such a small selection which are generally quite overpriced. Anyway this week has been freezing in Sydney and I only just remembered I should pull out this Paul & Joe Sister coat with quilted lining.

It's probably a size too big but I wear it over lots of layers and it's got a Kate Moss I'm-with-band vibe, don't you think? Yep one of the badges is Guns N Roses!

Again, excuse the blurred mirror and the NAP boxes in the background! Didn't get a chance to pack them away :) Anyway it was nice to wear this cuddly coat and I love the wrist ties which can crop the sleeves however you wish.

I wore this to head out for the weekend - turns out the weather was glorious and sunny and not even cold! I even ended up taking a walk around my local area to enjoy the great weather.

WIW: Shoe of the day

I've been a bit lazy with posting snapshots of things I've been wearing, partly because it's been freezing cold here in Sydney and I've been staying in a lot but also because on the shoe front I've been wearing my decollete's to death!

They've become my basic black pump work shoe and despite the steep arch and angled toe box, I've become really used to wearing them! I sanctioned myself a 'Louboutin-free' day last week so I decided to wear these flats instead on a day I was doing a fair bit of walking/running around:

But you know what? They're still fairly new and were more uncomfortable than 10cm heels! Insane!

So I was straight back to the decollete's the next day. But today I decided to wear an oldie but a goodie - a classic black block heel with a twist. A friend at work remarked "Oh the chunky heel are back in fashion are they?" I don't really mind either way, in-fashion or not they're insanely comfortable and in my opinion a classic mary-jane never goes out of style!

WIW: What I Wore

I'm not good with taking posed "outfit" photos - most of my photos are out-and-about and so are usually some kind of action shot. But there was recently a rainy day and I was going through my closet trying to trawl through all the stuff I never wear because I'm a) lazy, b) forget so many items exist, c) don't have time to style it.

So anyway, I pulled out the most adorable Sass & Bide mini cape that I'd bought several years ago and never worn (!) and decided to bite the bullet and find an outfit to match. It's really elegant but it can be quite hard to style because it's cropped and doesn't have arm holes like a lot of other capes do. So I thought I should start trying to take better photos of outfits and start a WIW or What I Wore tag on this blog.

So here's the outfit I came up with to head out for a casual long lunch + coffee date with the girls - excuse the fingerprinted mirror (sometimes I get a little too close when doing my eyeliner!). I took a photo with my Louboutins, but being rainy and cold I wore my Burberry rain boots instead. They weren't the best match for the outfit, but practicality won over since it literally rained all day non-stop.

I should probably add, my sister would kill me if I didn't mention the long story of how I managed to nab this particular capelet. I had been eyeing it for a while and everyone seemed to know, but then I kind of forgot about it for a while. Then one day my sister and mum were shopping and there it was hanging on a rack a good 50 metres away. It was the last one, so she practically ran to the rack only to get there just before someone else who was also eyeing it off. It had no price on it, but after some investigation they found out it was on sale, and there you have it, the beloved cape was in my possession. These are the types of stories attached to clothes which I love - see, clothes invoke memories and come with great stories!
