Holiday Shopping

It's been almost 2 months since I got back from the US (crazy!) and I realised I never posted about some of the goodies I bought while there. To be honest, I didn't really shop all that much because I was trying to be good and I was quite happy for it to be an enjoyable holiday, not shopping trip! I know that probably puts me in the minority because everyone I talk to says they come back from the US with two extra suitcases and I certainly saw that in person at the airport!

Anyway, these are two of the things I did buy, in keeping with the shoe theme of this blog :)

Another pair of Ferragamo Varina's on sale at Saks. They're definitely more of a summer shoe so perhaps I got caught up in the warmth of Northern Hemisphere summer but these have cute textured dotted detailing.

And one of the more unique patterns of the infamous Manolo Blahnik Sedaraby from Barneys. Most would remember this as the style of shoe in Sex And The City's "A Woman's Right to Shoes" (one of my fave SATC episodes!)

They of course come in a whole array of colours/styles each season and I wish I could have one of each!

This pair are an almost 'strange' colour combination but they just 'pop' when worn (and looked fabulous with the tan I worked up while I was in the Bahamas) and I can imagine them being worn at a Spring-time garden wedding. Luckily these were at absolute steal as part of the mid season sales!

WIW: Winter Coats

I love Winter Coats, though in Australia we have such a small selection which are generally quite overpriced. Anyway this week has been freezing in Sydney and I only just remembered I should pull out this Paul & Joe Sister coat with quilted lining.

It's probably a size too big but I wear it over lots of layers and it's got a Kate Moss I'm-with-band vibe, don't you think? Yep one of the badges is Guns N Roses!

Again, excuse the blurred mirror and the NAP boxes in the background! Didn't get a chance to pack them away :) Anyway it was nice to wear this cuddly coat and I love the wrist ties which can crop the sleeves however you wish.

I wore this to head out for the weekend - turns out the weather was glorious and sunny and not even cold! I even ended up taking a walk around my local area to enjoy the great weather.

#4: YSL Tributes

It's been a little while but I've made another NAP Shoe Subscription purchase - Yves Saint Laurent black patent 14mm Tributes! An awesome platform heeled sandal in black patent seemed a must-have item in every wardrobe, plus I gave into the sincere begging of my sister who has been wanting these for ages. We share our shoe wardrobe, so this seemed like the perfect choice!

To be honest, I kind of liked them in the plain leather better but since they sold out I contacted NAP to see if anymore stock would be coming in. When they said there would indeed be a new shipment sometime soon, we started stalking NAP religiously hoping for their return. The black patent is admittedly a little too squeaky clean and shiny at the moment, but I can't wait to wear them and dirty them up a bit to make them the perfect balance between patent shiny and matte calf leather.

 The best thing about this purchase is how comfortable they are! I could dance all night in them, and they're definitely a practical shoe for all those times I need a little bit of extra height :) Too bad it's officially Winter here so these might need to wait until it warms up a bit (though I'm thinking a good coat and a pair of tights might do the trick)

WIW: What I Wore

I'm not good with taking posed "outfit" photos - most of my photos are out-and-about and so are usually some kind of action shot. But there was recently a rainy day and I was going through my closet trying to trawl through all the stuff I never wear because I'm a) lazy, b) forget so many items exist, c) don't have time to style it.

So anyway, I pulled out the most adorable Sass & Bide mini cape that I'd bought several years ago and never worn (!) and decided to bite the bullet and find an outfit to match. It's really elegant but it can be quite hard to style because it's cropped and doesn't have arm holes like a lot of other capes do. So I thought I should start trying to take better photos of outfits and start a WIW or What I Wore tag on this blog.

So here's the outfit I came up with to head out for a casual long lunch + coffee date with the girls - excuse the fingerprinted mirror (sometimes I get a little too close when doing my eyeliner!). I took a photo with my Louboutins, but being rainy and cold I wore my Burberry rain boots instead. They weren't the best match for the outfit, but practicality won over since it literally rained all day non-stop.

I should probably add, my sister would kill me if I didn't mention the long story of how I managed to nab this particular capelet. I had been eyeing it for a while and everyone seemed to know, but then I kind of forgot about it for a while. Then one day my sister and mum were shopping and there it was hanging on a rack a good 50 metres away. It was the last one, so she practically ran to the rack only to get there just before someone else who was also eyeing it off. It had no price on it, but after some investigation they found out it was on sale, and there you have it, the beloved cape was in my possession. These are the types of stories attached to clothes which I love - see, clothes invoke memories and come with great stories!

Snapshots: Louboutin

During Christmas last year, my sister and I thought we would try and sort out our shoe wardrobe dilemmas. Namely that we were fast running out of space for our shoeboxes, with my cupboard now double stacked to try and fit them all in. There was a resolution of sorts to stop buying anymore shoes in the new year, which of course was quickly forgotten. So with three new pairs of Louboutins in the last few months because of my competition win, we thought we'd take a few snapshots of our ever growing Louboutin collection.

I personally love how eclectic and colourful the (relatively small) collection is - there are the classics (thanks to NAP Ultimate Shoe Subscription, of course), but there are still the few quirky finds which are near-impossible to find now. I also love the memories and stories that come with each pair of shoes. My sister wore the jewelled pair to a school formal, the cousu pieds were an extravagant double purchase (couldn't decide which colour to buy, so just bought both because they were at more than 50% off sale back when Louboutin wasn't even a well-known name!) and a few other pairs in between.

Now we have another pair on the way (keep an eye out for a post soon!), but what am I missing from this collection? I'm thinking my next purchase should be something open toe, maybe some flats? Any suggestions are welcome!
