Sony NEX-6!

I've been a little naughty recently with the technology purchases, with my new toy arriving this week - a Sony NEX-6!

Even though I already bought a new camera earlier this year (plus an iPad and upgraded my iPhone), my justification for this expensive purchase was that I was able to get a very good staff discount deal from one of my very generous friends. Who could say no, right?
This camera only just got released as well so I was pretty stoked.

I've only played with it a bit and I already love love love it! As much as I would love a DSLR purely for photographic quality, the size factor has always stopped me because I just know I'll never carry it around. This is a great compromise as not only is it still fairly small, it is also very lightweight! There are a few things about it that annoy me - namely the kit lens isn't great for macro and some of the functions aren't as user friendly as my other Canon cameras, but the pure responsiveness, shutter speed and photo quality (with its APS-C sensor) cannot be beaten.

I'm excited to take it on my upcoming holiday to see how it fares!

Meanwhile, my camera collection has grown ridiculously so I am officially on a technology spending ban! Four of five of these cameras are mine (the 5th is my sisters) and I have now handed on the S95 to her because I do not need 4 cameras! So if I even blog about contemplating purchasing something new, please stop me!

Youtube: Apple Fanatics

My friends alerted me to these two videos recently - I'm ashamed to say I can totally relate to some of the things mentioned here!! Pretty funny viewing if you are an Apple user and want to have a bit of a laugh :)

Part 1:

Part 2:

Are you an Apple or Android user? There's also an Android version of the video!

iPhone 5!

I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 last week and it arrived promptly on Friday morning, the first day of release yay!

I have to say, I don't think the new features are hugely different to the old one (I currently have a iPhone 4) and the increased length wasn't something I was so keen on, but my old phone is getting old and my contract needs renewing anyway so figured I might as well get one!

I take photos of everything so here's some first looks:
The box...same as always really.

And iPhone 4 v iPhone 5 - not a huge difference in size but definitely a little thinner. Look how scuffed up my old case is, but I love it. I picked one awesome case and used it for the entire 2 years I had my 4. Now I'm on the lookout for cases for the 5, but no one is stocking any yet or they're only allowing preorder and most of them aren't to my liking. I want thin, light weight, brightly coloured without being tacky as well as made from a great material. If anyone sees any meeting my very specific requirements, please let me know!

And these are the new much anticipated headphones - the storage container is pretty neat hey?

I'm going through the laborious backup process at the moment - see I'm downsizing from a 32GB to a 16GB and so this is taking longer than it already takes with all my apps and downloads!

Have you got the new iphone, and how do you like it?

Fashion Editorials

So I might be a little behind the times on this, but I recently came across this website which is an awesome portal of a whole host of fashion editorials from around the world!

OK so a lot of the pics are linked from the awesomeness that is tpf (the purse forum), but I love that it has done all the archiving for me. Even years old editorials are searchable there and link you to the full picture galleries.

What are your favourite fashion editorial websites?

The 'new' iPad!

So I ordered the new iPad the day it was released and it was meant to arrive tomorrow but instead it arrived on Saturday morning, 2 days early! So exciting :)

I've been so busy this weekend I haven't really had time to play with it, but it's nice to play with a new toy. Admittedly, I now have technology overload and so everytime a new email or facebook alert comes through I get alerted through triple alert on all my Apple products. Great if you love to stay connected (which I do), but also hard to keep up.

I am an Apple whore...
I love the resolution on the new iPad - the retina display is truly amazing and it's so awesome being able to see the same things I read/look up on my iPhone yet on a much bigger screen!

I still maintain my Air is far more versatile for the same thickness, it's just a little heavier and wider but at least it's a full computer! <3 Will report back soon once I get more used to my new toy :)
Macbook Air - Only a little thicker
Have you played with the new iPad and what do you love about it?

New Toys...again!

A few weeks ago I got my paws on some new technology....a new Canon camera! My sister wanted to upgrade her camera so I agreed to give her my old Powershot S95 (which incidentally I love, and still perhaps love more than this new camera) and bought myself the upgrade: the new S100.

I can't say I like the new upgrade as much as my old one but mainly because I am so used to all the features and had all my custom settings configured but there are a few things I love including the vignette or 'toy camera' setting and the new quick record video function.

Old and new!
I know I attached this to the post below but this is the vignette function I'm talking about - the toy camera instagram like framing! <3 And of course I'm loving my Nars. I took the plunge and bought Gaiety on the weekend as well and I love that even more...I think I'm addicted!

Fashion & Art

“Fashion is what seems beautiful now but

looks ugly later; art can be ugly at first but it

becomes beautiful later.”

                          - Steve Jobs

Isn't this quote just beautiful? It was relayed in the eulogy written by Jobs' sister Mona Simpson at his private memorial.

I like to think aspects of Fashion is like Art, though. Hopefully in years to come we will all see the present fashion as still beautiful!

Busy Busy Busy

I'm sad to say blogging has taken second priority to life in general this week! But I wanted to stop by quickly to say I have some Shoe Subscription goodies on the way to me too so watch this space :)

In the meantime, my new favourite widget on my Mac is the 'Delivery Status' one. It's fantastic for tracking my NAP parcels...see:

You can see it in the middle and it tells me where my parcels are with DHL. Squee!

P.S It does give a little hint about what I've ordered ;)

Macbook Sleeves

I've been on the lookout for funky slimline sleeves for my Macbook Air and it's been surprisingly difficult. We have limited supply of things in Australia at the best of times, so I really should have been less surprised that all I could find in JB Hifi, David Jones and the Apple Store was multitudes of iPad cases and ugly/expensive Macbook cases.

So the Apple store did have some nice cases which I would contemplate buying but at $70+ each, I knew I was better off searching the interwebs first. Ebay had lots of cheap things, but they were mostly also nasty looking. But I did however find some beautiful options...

Rib and Hull felt and leather sleeve U$67
This is by Rib & Hull, a Polish company that also sells on etsy. Isn't it just perfect? With the Macbook Air being so thin already, the one thing a laptop case must be is slimline and not heavy. This definitely ticks those boxes!
Pack and Smooch Hampshire Sleeve U$74
What about this one by Pack and Smooch? I love that it's still slim but has more storage pockets and comes in the cute light grey. It's a little more expensive, but again can be purchased online at etsy.

I'm yet to find anything else as beautiful, though I was hoping to spend less than $50 (these cost more once postage is included). Any other idea peeps?

New Toy!

So my new toy arrived this week....my new Macbook Air 11''! You might remember I mentioned wanting one a few months back here and I've been patiently waiting for the much rumoured new Air's to be released, so I jumped at the chance to buy one as soon as they announced the new processors! Plus it was a bit of a gift to myself after some good news at work :)

Shiny and new squee!
I was fortunate to have a great friend who works at Apple so got a pretty good deal and when I got my hot little hands on it I was sold! So far so good...I'm still trying to get used to using the OS but it's going to make photo uploading and blogging that much easier.

I went for the 11 inch because I love small and portable and was advised that the basic model would be enough for my needs. We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?
